Perspectives from a Recruiter Turned Account Manager

Brad

As a Technical Recruiter who has transitioned into an Account Management role, candidate and client experience has always been top priority for me. Stepping into the shoes of an active job seeker or a client hiring for a critical role on the team , I know I would only want to work with someone I can trust to keep me updated through the process and has my best interests top of mind.

From the recruiting side, I want my candidates to trust that I will be sharing and searching for roles that align with their career goals. This all begins with our initial prescreen conversation, where I’m asking candidates what they want from their next role. Through interview preparation and even after a candidate starts their new role, I make sure to follow up on the first day, first week, first month and so on. It is crucial that this move is the right move and for the right reasons.

As an Account Manager, there is much more to my role than finding a client who needs a role filled. Yes, it is a great achievement when we cross the finish line together, but we must start somewhere. From the beginning, I work on building a relationship, earning trust, and continuing to nurture the relationship through and through. There are tough conversations that come along with hiring/firing, not finding the right candidates but not wanting to send the wrong candidates (quality OVER quantity), along with many other challenges we may face together. Key word being together, because that’s what’s most important to me.

Overall in life, whether you are on the market for a new role, hiring candidates to assist with a project deadline, or even taking a trip to Disney – the experience should be #1! Navigating the job market can be one of the most stressful times in life, and I take pride in facing the challenge of assisting and ensuring the experience stays top priority.
